Deputy State Finance Director Andy Hornsby Retires

October 30, 2008

MONTGOMERY- Deputy State Finance Director Andy Hornsby is retiring from his post with the Alabama Department of Finance after more than four years of service. Hornsby has devoted four decades of his life to the betterment of state and federal government.

“Andy will always be a friend to state government and the employees who make it work,” said State Finance Director Jim Main. “I thank him for his service, and especially for his tireless efforts to help all of us in this administration achieve our goal of transparent, more accountable government.”

A Macon County, Ala., native, Hornsby’s lifelong career in public service took him from the USDA in Montgomery and Atlanta, to serving as the head of the national Food Stamp Program under President George H.W. Bush. Hornsby was also appointed to lead the Alabama Department of Human Resources under Alabama Governors Guy Hunt and Jim Folsom, Jr.

Hornsby is a 1968 graduate of Auburn University, and was this year named one of the top 40 graduates of the AU College of Business.

His retirement is effective Friday, October 31.
